Chairperson’s Ramadan Message

From the Chairperson’s desk Ramadan Mubarak 1444 ٱلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ‎ At the outset, we wish to express our gratitude to Allah SWT for having blessed us with the glorious month of Ramadan 1444. Over the past three years with the COVID pandemic, we suffered from loss of lives and livelihoods for many families. We pray that Allah grants all our departed Marhooms Jannatul Firdaus Insha’allah. Families remain destitute and many are slowly recovering from the loss of lives and livelihoods. May Allah continue to show His infinite mercy on us and may we derive the maximum spiritual benefits of this auspicious month of Ramadan. During this difficult period, the JHESS fraternity has shown tremendous solidarity with the less fortunate and supported our initiatives with the highest commitment and sincerest empathy. We remain thankful and acknowledge your continued support. Whilst we have resumed some degree of normalcy we still remain cautious and have limited our social engagements. However, we have continued with our programs namely the provision of bursaries; distribution of food parcels; and assisting the orphans. This year we have sponsored bursaries again to 12 beneficiaries that we supported last year and 11 new applicants for the year 2023. Our Food Parcel campaign target for this year 2023 is +/- 1,500 food parcels. As you are aware the full amount contributed is distributed as we do this on a purely voluntary basis. We do not apply any administration fee. May Allah reward you and our members. Our Orphan committee provides provisions to +/- 220 orphans throughout the year in the form of school clothing; learning aids and stationary; food and...

بسم هللا الرحمن الرحيمنحمده ونصلي م على رسوله الكريم Dear MemberMuharram Mubarak to everyoneWe welcome Muharram 1443 within the midst of the 3rd wave with Cape Town being the epicentre.Over recent months many families have endured loss of lives of not one family member but multiple family members within days; this is certainly unprecedented in our lifetime. We pray that Allah grant all Marhoomeen Jannatul Firduas Ameen. We also appeal to you to follow the non-pharmaceutical protocols and get vaccinated sooner than later.Muharram is one of the four sacred months, a month that we should increase our thikrs, charity and goodness towards one another. In this month of Muharram we are also reminded of the sacrifices made by Imam Husain ibn Ali (RA) and his companions who were tragically martyred. We ask Allah to grant us the spirit of Imam Husain as we face the many challenges in countering the spread of the COVID 19 virus by remaining steadfast in our belief in Allah (SWT).Allah reminds us in Surah l-sharḥ (94:5), “Indeed, with every difficulty, comes relief.” He repeats it to emphasize the message. Update from the Chairperson

ٱلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ‎ IMPORTANT MESSAGE The President of our country lowered the lockdown level to adjusted level 3 as infection rates tapers off in order to saves livelihoods and understandably so. Whilst Gauteng has seen a decrease in daily infections, infection rates in Cape Town remain high, we therefore urged all our members and families to remain vigilant. We are still very much in the peak in the Western Cape and urge each and everyone to stick to the non-pharmacological golden rules of wearing your mask properly over your mouth and nose, social distance 2m apart and avoid social gatherings irrespective of the limited easing of restrictions. The delta variant is highly contagious so minimise close contact whenever possible and only go out if absolutely necessary in the upcoming few weeks. Secondly, we encourage, motivate and recommend all to vaccinate and ignore all conspiracy theory pertaining to vaccinations. Vaccination is currently our only recourse to avoid children to be orphaned, our aged to be hospitalised and loved ones facing death in isolation. We can fight this virus together by vaccinating and sticking to the golden rules. We pray for all our departed loves ones to be granted Jannatul Firduas and all those that are suffering from COVID a speedy an uneventful recovery Insha’Allah.
