The COVID-19 pandemic is continuing to rage through the globe, with the World Health Organisation appealing for greater caution and the implementation of social distancing.
In South Africa, the Western Cape remains the EPICENTER of the pandemic with the highest number of positive cases and deaths.
Last week the President of our country visited the Western Cape and immediately advised for the increased availability of more beds in the ICUs at hospitals and staff (+/- 5,000), and indicated that saving lives is more important than funding.
Despite government efforts and health advice from various world-renowned experts, we as citizens tend to ignore the enormous burden that COVID-19 has placed on each and every human being, affecting our own and others’ health. It also brings with it significant ECONOMIC and PSYCHOSOCIAL CHALLENGES, and is reshaping and redefining human behaviour and actions.
We have to become more mindful of our actions and behaviours. The power to defeat this devastating virus is in our hands.
Follow the Golden Rules to reduce the spread of this virus.
